RAINBOW ON MY PLATE 18th Jul 2019
Topic for 5th day of Health Awareness Fortnight was Eat A Rainbow. The assembly area looked very colourful with the seven colours of rainbow (VIBGYOR).
Teacher started the session with simple Q&A session. Have you seen these colours before? Where do you find a rainbow? Can we eat a rainbow?
This was followed by singing the rainbow song. Once children recapitulated all the colours of rainbow, children from LKG A steeped forward dressed in various colours of rainbow. Each child was carrying a basket filled with fruits and vegetables of the same colour. Teacher then explained the importance of each colour and the vitamin associated with each colour. Five vitamins were introduced – vitamin A, B, C, D and E. Through a small play the benefits and deficiency of vitamins was also shared with children.
Children were very excited to note that they could eat all the colours of rainbow. They agreed to include at least 5 colours of fruits and vegetables in their meals to get stronger bones, better eye sight, glowing skin and healthy body.
