The important harvest festival of our country is celebrated across India i.e from North to South; East to West. It is called by different names like Lohri, Pongal, Bihu, Makar Sankranti. On the day of celebration teachers decorated the school with important festival attractions, Kites; and also arranged a corner with display of toys like bullock carts, farmers harvesting crops and farmers display of newly harvested crop.
In the morning assembly teacher explained the importance of this festival as, this festivals is celebrated by farmers as they thank the Sun God, the provider of light and energy required for growing crops. Farmers also shower affection to their farm animals who help them in cultivation.
Children of LKG and UKG represented different states of our country in traditional dress of the state. With the help of parent volunteers teacher had displayed a food corner comprising variety of special festival food like till laddu, Pongal, Meetha Chawal and savouries from Manipur. Children of UKG performed Surya Namaskar Salutation to Sun God.
Teacher explained the health benefits of consuming sesame seeds, Jaggery in the winter season. The festival was enjoyed by everyone in the school by sharing the til and gur and also exchanged the traditional saying “til gur ghya in god god bola”.
