‘Know the animals around you’ activity was conducted to make students aware about various kinds of animals, their classification based on their habitat, eating habits etc and also to teach them to be kind and considerate towards animals.

We all see many kinds of animals around us. The children were shown pictures, models and videos of different types of animals and were explained how they are classified as wild, domestic & pet animals and also water, land and amphibious. Young ones of various animals viz. lion-cub, hen-chick, sheep-lamb, cat-kitten, dog-puppy etc. were also explained. In addition, children were taught about animal ‘homes’ viz. dog-kennel, hen-coop, horse-stable, sheep-pen etc. Students were explained about uses of domestic animals too.

Through this activity, teachers also explained to the students about the importance of animal protection. Students were made aware that the animals should not be harmed or disturbed and should always be protected.
