Hygiene is two-thirds of health, with cleanliness being the incumbent first rule of health.
In the month of July, Naval KG School Mankhurd conducted Health Awareness Week activities from 12/07/21 to 16/07/21. On the first day, we discussed with our students about personal hygiene and made them aware why it is important to maintain a good personal hygiene. The children were explained; in a story method, that cleaning in many cases is removing dirt and unwanted things from the surface of objects using detergents and necessary equipment whereas hygiene practice focuses on the prevention of diseases through the use of cleaning as one of several inputs. Short stories telling the precautionary measures to be adopted to protect ourselves from infections in general and especially the Corona Virus infection were narrated in class. Small action songs like “when you cough, when you sneeze, cover your mouth, if you please” were taught to the students. The songs, stories, and activities really helped them grasp the gravity of the situation, but with their usual playfulness the children took it up in their stride.
