Guru Nanak Jayanti Celebration
Guru Nanak Jayanti which marks the birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru was celebrated virtually on 18th November’21. A serene and calm atmosphere was created with the soothing prayer of ‘Ek Onkar Satnam’ during the virtual classes. The importance and significance of the festival was shared through a colourful presentation followed by a child-friendly animated video with implementable values. They were taught about the importance of community sharing in the form of ‘langar’ and to follow the teachings of Guru Nanak Devji in their lives like always speaking the truth, helping others, sharing things and offering selfless service. Teachers also described five holy things as per Sikh religion kesh, kanga, kachera, kirpan and kara. Activities like making kanga and kalgi (decorative ornament for turban) were organised for students so as to nurture their fine motor skills and imaginative skills. Students enjoyed learning about the festival.
