Green Day 25th June 2019
Green, the colour of life, renewal, nature, and energy, is associated with meanings of growth, harmony, freshness, safety, and environment. The colour green is believed to have healing power and is understood to be the most restful and relaxing colour for the human eye to view.
All the children of Naval KG School, Mankhurd celebrated this day as Green Day along with their teachers.
Main Objectives:
• Children will learn to recognize green coloured objects with textures, sizes and shapes.
• Colours will help children to describe and categorize our world.
• Teaching children about colours is a great way to give them some vocabulary for describing the world around them.
Preparation began a day in advance. Different green coloured objects were kept at different places in the school. Assembly area was decorated with different green coloured objects. In addition two corners were created , the first one having a theme of a vegetable and fruit vendor and the other one being cloth section, where different coloured clothes were being hung. As a part of green day preparation, all students were also requested to come to school wearing a green colour dress.
On 25th, teacher started the assembly with a story of a little girl – “Greeny”, who liked the green colour. She went to the market with her mom to buy some dresses. There too, the only colour she chose was green. Then they went to the vegetable market and she bought green vegetables like Cucumber, Capsicum, Spinach, Lady Finger, Cabbage, French beans, etc. For fruits she chose sweet lime, raw mango, pear, etc. Then teacher started taking out green items from her basket and discussed about them with children.
Teacher also sang a song to emphasize the colour green –
“I am green, I am green..
La la la la la..
There is no colour like green
La la la la la..”
She also encouraged children to sing after her.
Some of the students wearing different shades of green were asked to come on stage. Teacher then discussed about different tints and shades of green by pointing at their dresses. A small quiz was organized where students were asked to look around and point at different green objects. All participated enthusiastically. The session concluded with the dramatization of the poem “Five Little Speckled Frogs”.
