In continuation of our colour day celebration, the month of July being the month of rainfall, we have two colour days in July, Green and Blue. The colour days are celebrated in school to familiarize kids with the various colours and their names. Various activities are planned in classes throughout the week to reinforce the particular colour.

Amidst heavy downpour, the school observed the Green colour day on 10 July. Red and yellow, the bright and warm colours of summer were already introduced in the month of April. With the onset of monsoons in July, the fresh and verdant Greenery is all around us to make us feel vibrant and energetic. Children and teachers came to school dressed in various shades of Green. A green corner was decorated with various objects having green colour. Vegetables like bottle gourd, bitter gourd, ladies finger, capsicum, green chilies, soft toy puppets of frog, tortoise, snake, etc. were placed on a table. Teachers and children’s small contributions made the green corner come alive.

All classes took turns to have a look at the corner with the teacher while she showed each green object, calling out its name and use. Different shapes were also shown in this interactive session which saw an enthusiastic response from the kids. Nursery kids were seen going home wearing a green crown on their heads, looking and feeling like cute prince and princesses. LKG kids proudly held aloft a green Caterpillar in their hands during dispersal. UKG kids were given their drawing books to draw and colour some green coloured objects of their choice and liking. So the children came up with nice drawings of green grapes, grass, leaves, trees, frog, caterpillars, etc. This colouring session was thoroughly enjoyed by children as they discussed amongst themselves what and how they are going to draw. The continuous sound of pitter-patter heavy rains from outside the classroom provided a wonderful backdrop to this artistic session.
