Ganesh Chaturthi
Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated every year to mark the birth of Lord Ganesha. He is also called as ‘Vighnaharta’, or the one who removes obstacles. Therefore, he is the first deity to be worshipped before initiating any new venture or project for an auspicious beginning. Lord Ganesha symbolizes wisdom courage, dutifulness, forgiveness, obedience, self-respect, discipline, prosperity and fortune. Naval KG Mankhurd celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi online on 09 Sep 21. Students were told about the above values through short stories related to Lord Ganesha. They actively participated in the celebrations by chanting shlokas and performing aarti. Students enacted one of the moral stories of Ganesha viz. ‘Ganapati dwaara Kuber Bhagwan ka garv haran’. Students expressed their devotion towards Lord Ganesha by decorating Ganesha picture with colourful rangoli powder and making idol of Lord Ganesha using play dough (clay). They also danced to festive tunes. The celebrations concluded with loud chants of ‘Ganapati bappa morya’. All these activities were instrumental in arousal of festive spirit in the students.
