Christmas celebration is the most awaited event of the school, not only the school gets drenched in the festive mood but also the slight chill in the air makes it very interesting.  To celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, Naval KG School premises was decorated with Christmas tree, dazzling stars, little toys, and bells etc. Board with Christmas as theme was placed at the entrance. On 21st Dec’18 everyone came dressed up in a colour dress to celebrate this day with full enthusiasm and fun.

The essence of Christmas came alive when the teachers depicted the story of The birth of Jesus Christ. Teachers did role play of  Mother – Mary, Father- Joseph, Angles, 3 Wiseman and, the Shepherd man.

Children were eagerly awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus, who is said to bring gifts to the well-behaved (“good” or “nice”) children. One of our teachers disguised as Santa Claus in red and white dress and long white false beard came to the assembly area with a bag full of chocolates. Children sang the song ‘Dashing through the snow’, ‘Run Like Raindeer’, ‘We wish u a merry Christmas’ …… and enjoyed playing with Santa.

Christmas is no fun without a traditional Christmas cake.

Unlike every year, where Christmas stories take the leading role, this year Naval KG school decided to fill the school with aroma of freshly baked Christmas cake and celebrate a sweet cakey Christmas. Before beginning the activity, teachers arranged the assembly area with the preparation table with all the material needed for cake baking. Children were introduced to various measuring instruments that are used to measure the ingredients, mixing the dry material was followed by adding the wet ingredients and the change in consistency was observed. A neatly lined baking tray was used to bake the cake. In less than five minutes the microwave gave a bell sound and the assembly area had all the eyes on the cake. The aroma made it difficult to resist. But everyone had to wait as the cake had to be decorated! A neat layer of chocolate syrup was covered with chocolate chips, gems, and colorful cake decoration. Then it was time to cut the cake. Children could not wait any longer to taste the cake.

Demonstrating Hands–on cooking activities help children develop confidence in basic living skills and abilities. It also develops math, science and comprehension skills in a play way method. The experience allows them to explore different food.

Later during the day Nursery children prepared red coloured Santa caps as take away gifts. LKG children made decorated caps of Santa with paper plates as take away. They also coloured post cards with Christmas theme to be posted to their parent’s address. UKG children drew a Santa face and a Christmas tree and coloured them in their drawing books.

The day was filled with joy and celebration as children knew that they were going for 12 day long winter break from 22nd Dec.
