Recitation is Fun. Rhyming teaches children a new form of language. It helps to imporve creative thinking and vocabulary of children. It also helps in the development of natural rhythms. Children reciting rhythmic poems develop fluency, pitch & tone. Poetry also helps younger children to learn new vocabulary words.
Naval KG school, Mankhurd organised an English Recitation Competition for all the sections of UKG. A few weeks before the completion, teachers selected various age-appropriate topics – birds, animals, community helper and festival. Teachers also guided each child to prepare a poem on one of the topics given above. Teachers also rehearsed with the tiny tots to ensure that they would present themselves well in good posture, be confident and make a direct connection with the audience.
On the day of Competition, children came to school in attires matching with their poem topics. One by one, the participating children came to the stage and recited with appropriate body posture and voice modulation. Everyone enjoyed. The best were awarded and all the participants were issued certificates.
