Naval KG School, Mankhurd celebrated the Nation’s Republic Day in a very special way.

Republic day honours India’s transition into a Republic country as on this day India’s constitution came into force in 1950.

Teacher started the session by a drama where a fellow student acted as Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the father of our Constitution. She informed children that Dr. B R Ambedkar is popularly known as Baba Saheb.

To make children grasp the idea of constitution, teacher took the example of school diary where rules and regulations of the school are written. The main components of constitution, like Fundamental Rights and Fundamental Duties were also discussed. To begin with she explained how to be a good citizen by doing good works, like not keeping our places dirty and importance of doing away with waste. Teacher described waste collection by showing blue and green coloured waste bins, where blue stands for dry waste and green for wet waste. She also discussed about waste segregation – where the waste generated is separated based on the utility – it can either be recycled or easily decomposed.  Dry waste includes plastic, wood and related products, metals and glass. Wet waste typically refers to organic waste usually generated by eating establishments.

Later teacher played a game with students where they stood in two lines. Children were encouraged to identify dry and wet wastes and put them in their respective beans while dancing on interesting song.

To make the session more interesting, Headmistress took the initiative to arrange a quiz between LKG and UKG students. She announced names of various waste objects and children were asked to identify proper waste bins for them.
